Getting Started
Taking the First Step Toward Support
Reaching out for therapy can feel overwhelming. Many parents contact us after months—or even years—of trying to help their child on their own. You may have read books, talked with teachers, spoken with your pediatrician, or spent countless nights wondering if you're making the right decisions.
Whatever brought you here, we're glad you found us. At The Center for Family Empowerment, our goal is to make the process of getting started feel clear, supportive, and personalized from the very first conversation.
Parents Are an Important Part of the Process
Children don't heal in isolation. Whenever appropriate, we actively involve parents and caregivers throughout treatment by providing education, practical strategies, and ongoing collaboration.
Depending on your child's age and goals, parent involvement may include:
Regular parent check-ins
Parent coaching sessions
Family sessions
Updates on treatment goals and progress
Strategies to reinforce skills at home
Our goal is to help children succeed not only during therapy sessions, but in everyday life.
How Long Will Therapy Last?
Every child and family is different. Some families come to therapy to work through a specific challenge over a shorter period of time, while others benefit from longer-term support as children move through different developmental stages.
Your therapist will regularly review progress with you and adjust treatment recommendations based on your family's needs and goals. We believe therapy should be purposeful, collaborative, and individualized—not open-ended without direction.
Our Commitment to Your Family
Choosing a therapist is an important decision. At The Center for Family Empowerment, we're committed to providing specialized, evidence-based care in a warm, compassionate environment where children and families feel supported every step of the way.
Our clinicians work collaboratively with families while recognizing each child's unique strengths, experiences, and goals. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, ADHD, OCD, trauma, depression, emotional regulation, family relationships, or another concern, we're honored to be part of your family's journey.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I'm not sure what kind of therapy my child needs?
That's completely okay. Many families aren't sure where to begin. During your initial consultation, we'll learn more about your concerns and help determine the most appropriate services and therapist for your family.
How often will my child attend therapy?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, although recommendations vary depending on your child's needs, goals, and availability.
Will I meet with the therapist too?
In many cases, yes. Parents are an important part of the therapeutic process, and your therapist will discuss how caregiver involvement can best support your child's treatment.
What if my child doesn't want to come?
It's common for children and teens to feel uncertain about therapy at first. Our clinicians work at each child's pace to build trust and create a space where they feel comfortable participating.
