Helping Kids Understand Their Feelings, Build Confidence, and Navigate Everyday Challenges

Being a kid isn't always easy.

Children are learning how to manage big feelings, navigate friendships, handle frustration, solve problems, and become more independent—all while figuring out who they are and where they fit in.

Strong Kids is a supportive therapy group where children can connect with peers, practice emotional and social skills, and build confidence in a safe, structured, clinician-led environment.

Who Is Strong Kids For?

Strong Kids may be a good fit for children who are experiencing:

• Difficulty managing big emotions • Low self-esteem or confidence • Friendship or social challenges
• Difficulty handling frustration • Worry or anxiety • Trouble expressing feelings or needs • Difficulty with problem-solving • Challenges with transitions or change • Difficulty coping with disappointment • Frequent conflict with peers or siblings

You May Notice Your Child:

• Becoming overwhelmed by small frustrations • Having difficulty calming down after becoming upset • Struggling to make or maintain friendships
• Saying things like "I can't do it" or "Nobody likes me" • Having trouble expressing what they're feeling • Becoming very upset when things don't go as planned • Avoiding activities because they're afraid of making mistakes • Needing significant support to navigate everyday social situations

Does this sound familiar?

They're not alone. Many children are still learning how to understand and manage their emotions, communicate their needs, and navigate relationships. A supportive group environment gives children the opportunity to practice these skills alongside peers who are working on similar challenges.

What Kids Will Work On

Depending on the needs of the group, participants may work on:

• Understanding and expressing emotions • Managing frustration and disappointment • Building confidence and self-esteem
• Developing coping skills • Friendship and social skills • Communication • Problem-solving • Flexibility and adapting to change

• Managing worry • Asking for help • Practicing positive self-talk

The goal isn't to expect kids to always keep their emotions under control. It's to help them understand their feelings and learn what they can do when those feelings become big.

Why Group Therapy?

Sometimes it helps to know that other kids are working on the same things. Strong Kids gives children an opportunity to practice skills with peers, learn from one another, receive encouragement, and experience success in a supportive environment.

Our clinicians provide structure and guidance while creating opportunities for children to participate, practice, and build relationships at their own developmental level.

What Parents Can Expect

Before joining Strong Kids, we'll learn more about your child and help determine whether the group is a good fit based on their age, developmental needs, personality, and current challenges.

Groups are clinician-led and include therapeutic activities, discussion, skill-building, and opportunities to practice new strategies. Depending on the group, parents may also receive resources or recommendations for reinforcing skills at home.
